History

Vermantia was established in 2007 in Athens and grew as a producer of racing and sports picture content for betting operators, adding its own virtual sports channels, number games and retail technology for betting shops. It says it is headquartered in Athens with offices in Cyprus, Italy, the UK, the CIS and Nigeria, and that it works with operators in 32 countries. A May 2016 press release reports that it was the first virtual games supplier licensed by Romania's National Gambling Agency.

Arena Racing Company, the British racecourse group, made a strategic investment in Vermantia in 2018 and completed its acquisition in November 2022, when former COO George Fotopoulos became chief executive and founder Filippos Antonopoulos moved to a consulting role for ARC. Since then its racing channels have drawn on ARC content, including shared ARC and RMG channels for UK racing announced in November 2023 and greyhound channels from Premier Greyhound Racing. Its news pages report a 2023 SBC Award for virtual sports, two EGR awards in 2023 and a shortlisting in four categories at the EGR B2B Awards 2026.
