History

John Huxley began as a North London furniture company set up by Alfred Lindsay in 1960, and John Huxley Casino Equipment Ltd was founded in 1973 under Jeff Lindsay to hand-build gaming tables, wheels and accessories. Bertil Knutsson developed the Chipper Champ automatic chip sorter in 1979 and founded Technical Casino Services in 1990; John Huxley, which says it became the first non-US company licensed to supply casino equipment in Nevada and New Jersey in 1989, introduced the Mark IV (1990) and Saturn (1997) roulette wheels. The two businesses merged in 2003 as TCS JOHNHUXLEY and moved to a purpose-built head office in Stoke-on-Trent in 2004.

Later milestones include manufacturing in the USA after buying Elite LLC in 2008, a development division in York from 2013, the Qorex electronic gaming terminal in 2016 (approved in Nevada in 2021), the purchase of Gaming Partners International's North American casino furniture, layouts and accessories business in 2020 and of dice maker Midwest Game Supply in 2022. The company, chaired since 2012 by Tristan Sjöberg of the Knutsson family, marked its 50th anniversary in 2023, says it has ten offices worldwide and supplies matt-finish wheels and other equipment built for online live studios.
