History
Skillz was founded in 2012 as a platform for competition in mobile games: developers integrate it into their titles, and it runs real-money and social tournaments between players. Its parent describes the platform's patented technology as hosting billions of tournaments for millions of mobile players worldwide. In February 2026 Skillz announced that it had acquired Beamable's game-backend technology, and in March 2026 it announced a Pro SDK for developers, to be shown at GDC 2026.
The listed company, Skillz Inc., changed its corporate name to Firy Inc. on 18 June 2026, and its Class A stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker FIRY on 22 June 2026. Firy presents itself as a holding company for three independently run businesses - Skillz, the AI-driven performance-marketing platform RZR and the game-backend and LiveOps provider Beamable - each of which keeps its own name and brand.
