Quickspin

Quickspin was founded in Stockholm in September 2011 by Daniel Lindberg, Mats Westerlund and Joachim Timmermans, who had backgrounds at NetEnt and Unibet. It released its first games in 2012 and built a catalogue of mid-volatility slots plus the Achievement Engine, a gamification layer operators could run over its games.

Playtech announced its acquisition on 24 May 2016: EUR 24m up front plus a maximum EUR 26m earn-out on 2017 and 2018 EBITDA, capped at EUR 50m in total — roughly six times EBITDA, on 2015 revenue of EUR 6m. At the time Quickspin had just over twenty games and around forty clients. It has operated as a Playtech studio brand since, retaining its own name in operator lobbies alongside Playtech's other studios. Playtech has written down the Quickspin cash-generating unit repeatedly — EUR 7.0m in 2022, EUR 9.6m in 2023 and EUR 18.2m in 2024 — while continuing to market it as an active studio. A casino that lists both Playtech and Quickspin is listing a parent and its subsidiary.
