History
PearFiction Studios was founded in 2014 to make casual mobile games for iOS and Android, publishing about a dozen titles that it says reached over five million players in two years. In December 2015 it released PowerUp Slots, a social casino game, and in 2016 it switched to real-money games, building its first slot and an HTML5/JavaScript game framework. In 2017 it signed an exclusive development and distribution agreement with RNG Foundry Limited for Microgaming's Quickfire platform, as well as a four-game deal with Leander that included Gustavo El Luchador.
Its first game on the Microgaming platform, the 1920s mafia-themed Chicago Gold, came out in February 2021. After Games Global bought certain assets from Microgaming in 2022, PearFiction began releasing exclusively on the Games Global platform, and its job postings describe it as part of the Games Global network of independent studios. The studio says it handles concept, maths, art, animation, sound and development in-house from an office in Old Montreal, with colleagues drawn from countries including Spain, Estonia, Ukraine, India, South Africa and Mexico.
