Meta Games Universal was set up by two former Cyberview Technology staff: chief executive Owen Cullum, previously Cyberview's US development manager, who led the team behind its server-based downloadable gaming platform, and chief technology officer Tobias Selwood, a former Cyberview software team leader who worked on its server-based video terminals. The company presents itself as a specialist in casino game development under the line 'Where Maths meets Art'.
Its business has three strands: developing games for partners, licensing its HTML5 Casino Game (HCG) framework to organisations setting up their own HTML5 development teams, and producing iOS and Android casino apps with its Cargo rapid-development technology.
