History
Kambi grew out of Unibet. Anders Ström, who launched Unibet in 1997, and Kristian Nylén, who led its sportsbook, drew up a plan for a business-to-business sportsbook in 2009, and Kambi Sports Solutions was established in October 2010 with Paf as its first partner, live in 2011. The company says its name comes from a Japanese word meaning 'perfection'. Kambi Group plc listed on Nasdaq Stockholm First North on 2 June 2014.
After the US Supreme Court struck down the federal sports betting ban in May 2018, Kambi processed the first legal online sports wager in the United States on 1 August 2018. Its founders' story, written after the co-founders' May 2024 board appointments, cites more than 1,000 employees in offices in Malta, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, Romania, the Philippines, Australia and the US; partners shown on its site include Rush Street, Svenska Spel, LiveScore Group and Bally's Intralot. Its licences are held by Kambi Malta Limited (MGA) and Kambi Sports Solutions (Alderney) Limited (Great Britain, Alderney and Romania).
