History
The business traces to the UK's Inspired Gaming Group, whose operating companies date from 1998 onwards, supplying betting-shop terminals and virtual sports. It became a US-listed company through a special purpose acquisition vehicle in 2016, taking the name Inspired Entertainment while keeping its principal operations in the United Kingdom, registered at Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
In 2019 it acquired Novomatic's UK gaming technology business, adding land-based machines and a larger UK footprint. It runs four segments — Gaming, Virtual Sports, Interactive and Leisure — and employs around 1,000 people. It faced Nasdaq compliance issues in 2024 following delayed filings and set out a remediation plan. Virtual sports remains the line that distinguishes it from general slot suppliers: operators run scheduled computer-generated football, horse racing and greyhound events as betting markets, sold to lotteries and retail betting estates as much as to casinos.

How well established
The Nasdaq listing, the 2016 route to market through a special purpose acquisition vehicle, the 2019 Novomatic acquisition and the segment structure are documented. The founding year and the earlier UK lineage are reported rather than reconstructed from the register.
