History
International Game Technology was founded in Nevada in 1975 and became the largest slot machine manufacturer in the United States. In 2015 the Italian lottery group GTECH acquired IGT and adopted the IGT name for the combined, London-domiciled International Game Technology PLC, which ran lottery, gaming and digital businesses together. That company acquired the online studio and aggregator iSoftBet for EUR 160m in July 2022, into its PlayDigital division.
The combination was then undone. In February 2024 IGT agreed to merge its Global Gaming and PlayDigital businesses with Everi; Apollo Global Management's USD 6.3bn all-cash deal was announced in July 2024 and completed in July 2025, and the combined private company operates as IGT from Las Vegas with Gaming, Digital and FinTech units. The listed remainder — the lottery business — was rebranded Brightstar Lottery on 17 June 2025 and trades on the NYSE as BRSL. So 'IGT' today is an Apollo-owned private manufacturer and content supplier; the company that was listed as IGT is now Brightstar Lottery, and the Everi brand survives in selected product lines. Hector Fernandez, previously chief executive of Aristocrat Gaming, took over as chief executive from late 2025.
