Relax Gaming

Relax Gaming was founded in 2010 by Patrik Osteraker and Jani Tekoniemi, and initially built poker and bingo network technology rather than slots. Kindred Group (then Unibet) invested early and held around a third of the company. Relax began building in-house games in 2018 and simultaneously grew an aggregation business on its Relax Apex platform, under two distinct programmes: Silver Bullet, a selective tier in which Relax invests in small studios and provides go-to-market and content-visibility support, and Powered By Relax, a broader route in which third-party studios integrate onto Apex for distribution and compliance support.

In July 2021 Kindred agreed to acquire the remaining 66.6% of Relax at an enterprise value of about EUR 320m, completing in October 2021 and leaving Kindred with roughly 93% and management with the rest. In October 2024 Kindred Group itself was acquired by La Francaise des Jeux, the French national lottery operator, which now trades as FDJ United — so Relax Gaming's ultimate parent today is a French state-linked lottery group, not an independent operator. A casino listing 'Relax Gaming' may be showing first-party Relax slots, partner content from either programme, or both.
