Big Time Gaming is an Australian slot studio founded in Sydney in 2011 and now owned by Evolution. It created the Megaways mechanic, which it licenses to other studios. Evolution acquired it in 2021.

Big Time Gaming began operating in Sydney in 2011, founded by Nik Robinson, who had earlier founded New Tech Media — a business that was sold to News Corp and merged into what became OpenBet. Huw McIntosh led the technical side and Ian Schmidt the creative side. In December 2015 it trailed Dragon Born, launched in January 2016, as the first game built on its Megaways system, in which the symbol count per reel varies each spin to produce up to 117,649 ways to win. Bonanza, later in 2016, was the commercial breakout.
Megaways became the studio's principal asset: dozens of other suppliers licence the mechanic and publish Megaways versions of their own titles, and it was already in more than 200 games from multiple providers by 2021. Evolution announced its acquisition on 12 April 2021 and completed it on 30 June 2021, for up to EUR 450m in total — EUR 220m up front, part cash and part new Evolution shares, plus earn-outs of up to EUR 230m on subsequent EBITDA. The frequently quoted EUR 450m is the ceiling, not the price paid. In the wild, BTG content is served from Evolution infrastructure rather than any BTG game domain.
